  • The article reports that two cases before the Supreme Court may have dire effects for U.S. wetlands. Rapanos v. United States and Carabell v. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers both consider how far federal jurisdiction extends over wetlands. The cases could put 90% of U.S. wetlands at risk by transferring their control to the states, many of which have no wetlands protection programs. INSET: FOR WETLANDS, BAD ACCOUNTING.
