As a philosophical reflection, inserted in the investigations on the philosophy of information, the language and the theory of knowledge in Information Science, questions deployed from the thinking of Rafael Capurro and the neodocumentalists, this communication aims to critically examine the conceptual question of materiality in the scope of informational studies. The philosophical methods approached in the historical perspective exercise of the question of materiality are: the panoramic presentation of Ludwig Wittgenstein and the philosophical archeology of Giorgio Agamben. Between the ‘connecting visions’ and the ‘archaeological epoché’, we defend the following thesis: the neodocumentalist question of the materiality of information reestablishes the foundational philosophical position of the classic-late wrangle of ‘formless matter’. This is, according to Plato, the mother of materiality, that is, the book. In this sense, formless matter as a grammatical book marks a historical-classic-contemporary ‘halo’ to informational studies. Halo announces the ‘new’ as a small displacement, which does not concern the state of things, but its meaning and limits. It has no place in the entities of things, yet in their peripheries. The ‘materialisation’ of the ‘neodocumentation’ process is not contemporaneous in its ‘long history’, but ‘classical-contemporary’, whose interment is an eternal return of the book, a classic-contemporary halo of informational studies.

Como uma reflexão filosófica, inserida nas investigações sobre a filosofia da informação, a linguagem e a teoria do conhecimento em Ciência da Informação, questões desdobradas a partir do pensamento de Rafael Capurro e dos neodocumentalistas, esta comunicação objetiva perspetivar criticamente a questão conceitual da materialidade no escopo dos estudos informacionais. Os métodos filosóficos abordados no exercício de perspetivação histórica da questão da materialidade são: a apresentação panorâmica de Ludwig Wittgenstein e a arqueologia filosófica de Giorgio Agamben. Entre o “ver conexões” e a “epoché arqueológica”, defendemos a seguinte tese: a questão neodocumentalista da materialidade da informação reestabelece a posição filosófica fundacional da querela clássico-tardia da “matéria informe”. Essa é, conforme Platão, a mãe da materialidade, ou seja: o livro. Neste sentido, a matéria informe enquanto livro-gramma marca um “halo” histórico – clássico-contemporâneo – aos estudos informacionais. O halo anuncia o “novo” como um pequeno deslocamento, que não diz respeito ao estado das coisas, mas ao seu sentido e aos seus limites. Não tem lugar nas entidades das coisas, todavia nas suas periferias. Portanto, concluímos: a “materialização da informação” pleiteada pela (neo)documentação não é contemporânea em sua “larga história”, mas “clássico-contemporânea”, sendo ela mesma, “materialização”, fruto de um processo “informe gramatical” cujo entre é um eterno retorno do livro, um halo clássico-contemporâneo dos estudos informacionais.
