This article presents the two books collecting the papers written across the last four decades by Andrea Belvedere, an Italian civil law academic. It highlights the influence, in his works, by the legal positivism and the theory of language developed in the law field. The works of Belvedere cover theory of law and classical civil law issues, particularly in the areas of contract law and tort law (with special focus on causation). This paper points out the deep coherence in the methodological approach of the writer, regardless the topic he deals, and the rigorous use of the tools provided by the theory of law (and also of language) in studying positive norms.
