  • Resumen
    • Adee features Horyou, a social network based in Geneva, Switzerland. Horyou wants to make giving as painless and intuitive as a Facebook like, allowing small donations to snowball for the recipient. Launched in Dec 2013, Horyou connects artists and non-profit groups with potential supporters, including big firms. It now has 220,000 members in 180 countries. To avoid the pitfalls of slacktivism, Horyou founder Yonathan Parienti has devised a way to translate solidarity online into practical support: a digital currency called SpotLight. SpotLight merges a "like" with a micropayment. One buys one unit of the currency for L3.65, $3.65 or euro3.65--Parienti wants the price to suggest the idea of giving someone a cent or penny every day for a year. Other currencies will be accepted in future. To donate, one will just click a little icon on the recipient's Horyou page. One can recover his donation at any time if he wants someone else to have it. SpotLight can also be used to pay for services provided by other Horyou members
