In this article the author offers observations on the history and practice of interviews and interviewing. Particular focus is given to her experiences being interviewed about her work as a performance artist. Additional topics discussed include the invention of the interview by political journalists in the mid-19th century and her observations on a 2011 interview between the politician Sarah Palin and the conservative pundit Glenn Beck.
