In this article, the author examines the work of various contemporary artists that incorporate music into their work. Artworks discussed include the 2013 performance artwork "A Whole Lot of Sorrow," by Ragnar Kjartansson, the 2012 video artwork "We could have had it all," by Itziar Barrio, and the 2008 video "Everything Is Gonna Be," by Katarina Zdjelar. The performance and song "Picasso Baby," by the hip hop artist Jay-Z is also examined.
