  • The article discusses the Miami Beach, Florida contemporary art exhibition Art Basel and suggests the importance of public access to art. The author reports that there are many private art collectors in the Miami metropolitan area, but no prominent museum for the public. Topics discussed include the Miami Art Museum (MAM), the Miami landmark building the Freedom Tower, and the death of Thomas Hoving, director of New York City's Metropolitan Museum of Art.
