  • The article presents the author's views on the Association of Art Museum Directors (AAMD) rule that museums can only deaccession (sell) works of art in order to acquire more art. The author objects, citing the case of the National Academy Museum in New York, which had to sell two pieces to cover operating costs, and was severely censured by the AAMD.
