Resumen de Manifestaciones orales del sida: perspectiva actual

Con esta revisión se pretende remarcar al odontoestomatólogo los aspectos clínico que con mayor frecuencia se asocian a una infección producida por el VIH. Entre ellos cabe destacar las infecciones producidas por virus (herpes simple, herpes varicela-zoster, citomegalovirus, papilomavirus)hongos, (sobre todo candidiasis) y bacterias (caries y patología periodontal; la patología tumoral asociada (sarcoma de Kaposi, linfoma de Hodgkin, carcinomas); así como otras patologías que tienen su asiento en el territorio del aparato estomatológico (ulceraciones atípicas, alteraciones neurológicas, patología glandular, etc). No puede concluirse el trabajo sin recordar la importancia que tiene seguir un protocolo en la atención odontológica de estos pacientes seropositivos, que debería hacerse extensivo al resto de nuestros pacientes.

This review is intended to stress the dentists on the clinical aspects that with more frequency are associated to the infection produced by the HIV. Among them to emphasize the infections produced by virus (Herpes simplex, Herpes varicella-zoster, Citomegalovirus, Papillomavirus), fungi (above all candidiasis) and bacteria (caries and periodontal pathology); the associated tumoral pathology (Kaposi's sarcoma, not Hodgkin lymphoma, carcinoma); as well as other pathological manifestations that have their seat in the maxillofacial territory (atypical ulcerations, neurological alterations, glandular pathology, etc.). lt can not be concluded this work without recalling the importance that has to follow a protocol in the dental attention of these HIV-positive patients, that should to be made extensive to the rest of our patients.
