  • The author discusses the approach of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to prevent the overuse of drugs such as antibiotics in food animals that promote animal growth. The author mentions that the move by the agency which is to use sales data from drug developers to analyse whether its guidelines is effective were inadequate due to department's reliance on the data.
