Resumen de Síndrome de Reel en un paciente portador de un cardiodesfibrilador automático implantable

El síndrome Twiddler y su variante el síndrome de Reel, son complicaciones poco frecuentes en los pacientes portadores de un cardiodesfibrilador automático implantable; pero pueden provocar disfunción severa del dispositivo. La identificación de los factores predisponentes y la intervención sobre ellos, así como el seguimiento periódico del funcionamiento mediante telemetría y radiografía de tórax, son útiles en la prevención de estos síndromes. Se describe el caso de un paciente con síndrome de Reel al tercer mes del implante de un cardiodesfibrilador, como consecuencia de una sepsis del bolsillo del generador.

The Twiddler syndrome and its variant, the Reel syndrome, are uncommon complications in patients with an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator, but they can cause severe device dysfunction. The identification of the predisposing factors and the intervention on them, as well as the periodic monitoring of the operation by means of telemetry and chest radiography, are useful in the prevention of these syndromes. Here is described the case of a patient with Reel syndrome at the third month after the implantation of a cardioverter-defibrillator, as a result of a sepsis in the generator pocket.
