Resumen de Zwischentöne – Zwischenräume: zur Ambivalenz des Sounds im 'Opernkino'

Hannah Birr

  • This article examines the forms and functions of sound in a rather specific (socio)cultural media phenomenon: While opera can be understood as an art form between music and theatre, the live transmission of opera sound in the ,opera cinema’ is perhaps better understood as a hybrid of sound in the opera and sound in the film. This leads to multiple questions: Which levels or dimensions of sound can be differentiated? What marks the adaptation situation? Which functions of the sound can be identified? And, finally, to what extent do acoustic parameters contribute to the induction of immersion and the experience of presence?
