  • The article discusses the role of thought experiments in scientific research from the 20th-century onward, focusing on the theories of physicist Albert Einstein with regard to general and special relativity. Topics addressed include questions regarding the line between empirical measurement and imaginative fantasy in the scientific method, weaknesses in Einstein's thought experiments which have since been disproved, and examples of other related contemporary thought experiments.
