  • The article looks at possible causes of the extinction of dinosaurs. It is suggested that while an asteroid collision was the primary cause of the extinction, previous environmental changes had rendered dinosaurs particularly vulnerable at the time of the collision. Details on the author's career as a paleontologist and on his collaborative study of the extinction, which posited that a short-term sea level drop may have affected diversity among plant-eating dinosaurs, are presented.
