  • The article discusses the development of a prototype transformer-like military vehicle, called the Aerial Reconfigurable Embedded System (ARES), by aerospace and defense corporation Lockheed Martin for the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). The prototype, which is an unmanned vertical-takeoff-and-landing drone, is scheduled to be completed by 2015. Also discussed is aerospace start-up Advanced Tactics' prototype vehicle, The Black Knight Transformer.
