Elizabeth Bell and Mark Harrison at the University of California in Los Angeles have analyxed more than 10,000 zircon crystals smaller than a millimeter in length. In one Hadean crystal they found tiny flecks of graphite, which must have been Incorporated when the crystal formed same 4.1 billion years ago.
