"What about the decretals of Pope Gregory IX? - Regarding the rules of canon law and their fate after the reformation" sheds light on the work of Justus Henning Böhmer (1674-1749) who provided a scientific basis for the application of canon law within the Protestant Church, published in his famous Ius Ecclesiasticum Protestantium. Therein, he analysed each single law of the decretales- which constitute the main part of canon law- and decided on their transferability to Protestant ecclesiastical law. Thus the lecture gives examples of continuation and discontinuation of these laws in the Protestant canon law of the beginnings of the 18th century.
