El "Coloquio XVI del bosque de divino" de Fernán González de Eslava muestra el complejo aparato simbólico que se aplicó en América para la evangelización. El discurso alegórico y el uso narrativo de la iconografía emblemática lo confirman. En dicha obra, la alegoría emblemática advierte cómo se evangelizaba a la población indígena y, al mismo tiempo, cómo se organizaba la elite novohispana en función de la cosmovisión teopolítica del imperio de Felipe II.
The "Coloquio XVI del bosque divino" by Fernán González de Eslava shows the complex symbolic apparatus that was applied in America for evangelization. The allegorical speech and the narrative use of emblematic iconography confirm it. In this work, the emblematic allegory warns how the indigenous population was evangelized and, at the same time, how the New Spain elite was organized in function of the theopolitical worldview of the empire of Felipe II.
