Ecología reproductiva y crecimiento de Leporinus striatus en un afluente del río Uruguay. Misiones Argentina.

    La elevada diversidad íctica del arroyo Yabotí, la conforman especialmente especies de pequeño porte como Leporinus striatus (Kner, 1858). El objetivo fue caracterizar la estrategia reproductiva y el crecimiento de la especie. Se realizaron 4 muestreos estacionales entre noviembre de 2006 y noviembre de 2007 en tres sectores del arroyo, se utilizó una batería de diez redes de espera de tamaño malla entre 3 y 12 cm (entre nudos opuestos). La especie tuvo representatividad en los tres puntos muestreados y a lo largo de todo el período de estudio, la mayor abundancia se registró en la cuenca baja (63%). El rango de talla fue entre 4 y 16 cm de longitud estándar, con moda en las clases de 14 y 15 cm. El crecimiento fue isométrico (b= 2,7). Los mayores valores del factor de condición (K) se registraron en primavera en correspondencia con el elevado número de individuos maduros. Los valores de RGS de individuos maduros y en desove fueron mayores en la cuenca baja. Los desoves se registraron durante el invierno y el verano, alcanzando los ovocitos un diámetro máximo de 749 micrómetros y el tipo de desove fue caracterizado como de tipo parcelado o múltiple.

    The high fish diversity of Yabotí stream is mainly composed by small species as Leporinus striatus (Kner, 1858). The objective was to characterize the reproductive strategy and the growth of the species. Four seasonal samples were carried out between November 2006 and November 2007 in three sections of the stream, with ten gill nets with mesh sizes ranging from 3 to 12 cm between opposite knots. A total of 308 specimens were collected at 3 sites sampled and throughout the study period. The highest abundance was recorded in the low basin (63%). The size range was 4 and 16 cm standard length, with a mode in classes of 14 and 15 cm. The growth was isometric. The highest values of condition factor (K) were recorded in spring in correspondence with the high number of mature individuals. RGS values of mature individuals and spawning were higher in the lower basin. Spawning were recorded during winter and summer, reaching the oocytes a maximum diameter of 749 micrometers and the type of spawning was characterized as parceled or multiple. The presence of L. striatus throughout the annual cycle and in the representative points of the Yabotí stream allows concluding that it is a species that exploits successfully the available resources.
