  • The article reports on efforts to grow organs using the bodies of animals to close the gap between the number of people requiring organ transplants and the available organs for donations. Topics discussed include the factors that prevent a normal animal organ from being of use to a human, the step-by-step procedure in growing human organs in animals and the role of stem cell technology in the success of the process. Also discussed are the challenges involved in the procedure.
