  • The article reports on advances in the development of artificial pancreas that can help Type 1 diabetics monitor their blood glucose levels. Topics discussed include the dangers for Type 1 diabetics of having too low or too high blood sugar levels, the medical device manufacturer Medtronic developing an insulin pump that analyzes glucose level and automatically adjusts insulin rates and a clinical trial on a device that integrates an insulin pump, a glucose monitor and a smartphone.
