Resumen de La enseñanza de español a los hablantes de herencia en Estados Unidos

El español es la segunda lengua más hablada en Estados Unidos y su importancia histórica en el país se remonta al siglo XVI. Los hablantes ele herencia del español, aquellos nacidos en EE. UU. que heredan el español en un país donde la primera lengua es el inglés, se ven influidos por una serie de factores lingüísticos y extralingüísticos a la hora de aprender español o de perpetuar su domino de la lengua. En este trabajo veremos cuáles son las peculiaridades del español de EE. UU. y las necesidades específicas de los hablantes de herencia en las clases de español que requieren que la enseñanza sea diferente a la de E/LE.

Spanish is the second language in the United States of America and its importance in the history of the country began in the 16th Century. The Spanish Heritage Speakers, those born in the USA who inherit the Spanish language in a country where English is the first language, are influenced by some linguistic and extra-linguistic factors when they learn Spanish or when they pursue proficiency in the language. ln this study we analyse the peculiarities of the Spanish of the U.S. and the specific needs that the Spanish Heritage Speakers have in the Spanish lessons, which need to be based on a different teaching methodology than the one of the Spanish as a Second Language lessons.
