Resumen de Factores relacionados con los trastornos del sueño en hemodiálisis

Introduction. Sleep disorders are very common in end-stage renal disease patients in hemodialysis therapy, and that means a great influence in their quality of life. Patients and methods. We studied sleep problems in a sample of 31 stable hemodialysis patients and we evaluated correlates with demographic characteristics, like age or time in dialysis; and laboratory indicators like nutritional status determined by albumin concentration, dialysis adequacy measured by Kt/V calculations, depuration of middle molecules by β2-microglobulin, iron storage factors, anemia, concentration of serum phosphorus and calcium were monitored. Results and conclusions. 67.7% of patients had sleep disorders. The parameters analyzed showed: time in dialysis was greater in patients with sleep disorders who presented more anemia, more iron deficiencies and higher serum phosphorus and calcium × phosphate product than hemodialysis patients whithout disturbances sleep. However, there were no differences respecting dose of dialysis, nutritional status and β2-microglobulin in patients whith or whithout sleep disorders.
