    Carlos G. Zárate Botía é um cientista social colombiano bastante reconhecido na área de estudos de fronteira na América Latina. Com formação interdisciplinar, fez mestrado em Ciências Sociais pela Facultad Latino Americana en Ciencias Sociales (FLACSO) (Equador) e se doutorou em História pela Universidade Nacional da Colômbia, onde atualmente é pesquisador e professor, lecionando na Sede Amazônia, em Letícia. A experiência de pesquisar, trabalhar e viver na região da tríplice fronteira entre Colômbia, Brasil e Peru lhe forneceu um olhar apurado para situações problemas que observa bem de perto e com uma refinada mirada interdisciplinar e histórica.

    Carlos G. Zárate Botía is a colombian professor and researcher, with experience instudies on the region of the triple border between Colombia, Brazil and Peru. In thisinterview, it is observed how his work provides an accurate view at thinking the frontierin an interdisciplinary and historical perspective. It is analyzed how the national andstate barriers can be worked from cross-border studies, with methodologies that allow tounderstand the national differences in its movements between the borders. Care anddedication are observed in the study of a territory located in the largest tropical forest inthe world and built not only by distinct national realities, but also by ethnic and cultural realities involving encounters and disagreements between western and westernizedpopulations. From his research investments, possibilities for social sciences are moreopen to theoretical-methodological pluralities.
