    La idea de reforma ocupa un lugar importante en el conjunto de la historia de la Iglesia, pero en el uso común ha pasado a designar de modo principal los proyectos de reforma del siglo XVI, y ante todo aquellos que desembocaron en el protestantismo. El presente artículo estudia el concepto de reforma de los reformadores protestantes, considerando tanto el trasfondo que hay en la terminología medieval de reforma como el punto de contraste que se puede encontrar en el ideal de restitución enarbolado por los reformadores radicales.

    The idea of reform is central throughout Church history. There is, however, a tendency to use it above all to refer to the Protestant Reformation in the sixteenth century. This article analyzes the idea of reform found in the writings of the Protestant reformers, considering both the background of the medieval terminology of reform and the contrast between the idea of reform and the idea of restitution held by the radical reformers.
