Resumen de Contribuciones sociológicas para pensar los derechos humanos: desigualdades y justicia social en Brasil y Uruguay

  Este artículo relaciona el debate teórico de derechos humanos con las ideas de justicia, desigualdad y reconocimiento trabajadas desde la sociología. A pesar de la distancia que esta ha mantenido con el estudio de los derechos humanos, las reflexiones sobre las identidades colectivas, movimientos sociales, instituciones y reivindicaciones la acercan al debate sobre ellos. Se examinan algunos ejemplos de Uruguay y Brasil que permiten identificar procesos de democratización y desdemocratización. Si bien los derechos humanos son el fundamento de las democracias liberales y tienen pretensión de universalidad, al no realizarse de forma homogénea, sus principios básicos son cuestionados y se alejan cada vez más de la defensa de los derechos humanos.

  This article focuses on the relationship between human rights theoretical debate and the ideas of justice, inequality, and recognition, from a sociological field. Despite a distance sociology has maintained with the study of human rights, its reflections on collective identities, social movements, institutions and claims build bridges to the debate on rights. We show democratization and de-democratization processes using different rights examples from Brazil and Uruguay. Although human rights are the foundation of liberal democracies, while pretending to be universal, as they are not carried out homogeneously, its basic principles are questioned and they move away from the defense of human right
