    Desde hace años instituciones internacionales fomentan el recuerdo del Holocausto como prevención de posibles genocidios y defensa de los valores democráticos y de convivencia. La Educación es el ámbito principal al que van dirigidas tales iniciativas, pero cada vez más se suman las bibliotecas públicas. La memoria del Holocausto exige la implicación ética del bibliotecario ante la proliferación desmesurada de libros, información en Internet y los peligros del negacionismo, revisionismo y banalización. Además las bibliotecas públicas deben fomentar los principios que aparecen recordando al Holocausto: la lucha contra el antisemitismo, la xenofobia y la intolerancia.

    For years, international institutions promote the remembrance of the Holocaust in order to prevent genocide and foster the values of democracy and peaceful coexistence. Education is the main area at which such initiatives are targeted, and public libraries play an increasingly important role in that task. The memory of the Holocaust requires the ethic involvement of the librarians to deal the excessive proliferation of books, websites information and face the dangers of Holocaust denial, revisionism and trivialization. Besides, public libraries should promote the principles that emerge from the memory of the Holocaust: the fight against anti-Semitism, xenophobia and intolerance.
