New documents concerning Niccolò Valori provide information about antique sculptures he bought in the Medici sale of 1496 and gave back to them after the Medici's return to Florence in 1513. These pieces include the Cupido Shooting an Arrow, the so-called 'Altar of Cleomenes', the bust of Plato and the so-called 'Dying Alexander'. Therefore, we can now be sure, that all of them belonged to the early Medici collection.
