  Este artículo de revisión hace referencia a las posibles aplicaciones clínicas de los ácidos grasos esenciales (AGE) en la medicina veterinaria. Se revisan tanto sus usos terapéuticos como profilácticos en diversas patologías y se pretenden explicar los mecanismos mediante los cuales realizan sus efectos beneficiosos. * This review article refers to the applications of the essential fatty acids in veterinary medicine. The thera- peutic and prophylactic effects of essential fatty acids in several pathologies are reviewed and the mechanisms by which they provide their beneficial effects are explained.
