* A study on the incidence of cardiac arrhythmias in dogs has been carried out by means of electrocardiographic tracings of 2. 200 dogs at random. A total of 1. 651 cardiac arrhythmias were diagnosed out of a total of 1. 371 dogs (62. 31 %): 88. 02 per cent (1,354 cases) presented abnormal sinus rhythms, 12. 53 per cent (207 cases) ectopic beats, and 5. 45 per cent (90 cases) heart blocks. 79. 86 per cent of the dogs (1. 095) presented isolated arrhythmias, 19. 84 per cent (2 72 cases) two associated arrhythmias, and 0. 29 percent(4) three different arrhythmias. In 1. 135dogs of the 2,200 examined (51. 59%) vagal arrhythmias were diagnosed, of which 968 cases corresponded to a sinus arrhythmia. Arrhythmias considered as abnormal occurred in 236 dogs (10. 72%) the most frequent patbology being thefollounng: ventricular premature beats (56 cases), paroxysmal supra ventricular -tachycardia (33 cases), second degree atrioventricular block (23 cases),first degree atrioventricular block (16 cases), and atrial fibrilation (15 cases).
