    El Xantolo o Día de muertos en la Huasteca, es una celebración de raigambre mesoamericana que conjuga elementos europeos, en la que se conmemora a los muertos, también se relaciona con el ciclo agrícola del maíz y puede ser vista como una ofrenda de agradecimiento por las cosechas obtenidas. Con información obtenida mediante entrevistas abiertas, colecta etnobotánica y registro fotográfico, en este trabajo se reportan los elementos vegetales que conforman el Arco u ofrenda de muertos y se describe el papel de las veintisiete especies que se encontraron presentes en dicha ofrenda. La conformación del Arco evidencia el simbolismo agrícola de esta celebración.

    The Xantolo or Day of the Dead in the Huasteca, is a celebration of Mesoamerican roots that combines European elements, in which while honoring and commemorating the dead, is also related to the agricultural cycle of corn and can be seen as an offering of thanks for the harvests obtained. With information obtained through open interviews, ethnobotanical collection and photographic record, in this work the plant elements that make up the Arch or offering of dead are reported and the role of the twenty-seven species found in that offering is described.

    The conformation of the Arc evidences the agricultural symbolism of this celebration.
