En el presente artículo trataremos de acercarnos a los cambios que se producen en la comarca de Tierra de Barros (Badajoz) durante el siglo XVIII basándonos en los datos de dos fuentes principales: las Respuestas Generales del Catastro de Ensenada y el Interrogatorio de la Real Audiencia de Extremadura. A partir de una serie de indicios veremos el reflejo material de esta etapa de expansión no exenta de los problemas propios de una sociedad de Antiguo Régimen como sequías y epidemias.
In the present article we will try to approach to the changes that are produced in the district of Tierra de Barros (Badajoz) during the 18th century based on the data of two main sources:
the general answers of the Catastro de Ensenada and the questioning of the Royal Audience of Extremadura. Depart from a number of signs, we will see the material reflection of this phase of expansion which are not exempt from the own problems of a society of the Old System such as droughts and epidemics.
