    • The article discusses amount of bacteria found on human skin. The focus of the article is research by scientists at the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH), as part of the Human Microbiome Project, who sequenced genes from various skin samples and found over 200 genera of bacteria. Scientists had thought one type of bacteria called Staphylococcus was the main skin microbe. The study’s aim is to establish a baseline of bacteria enabling the treatment of skin diseases such as eczema.
