  • The article discusses high-speed rail systems and whether or not increased government investments will make them possible in the U.S. An example is given of bond approvals by voters in various states including California and Texas, to construct high-speed rail systems only to have them abandoned. Topics include the challenges the size of the U.S. presents to the construction of a train service that spans the country and the Department of Transportation’s (DOT) plans to create regional networks.
