  • In this article the author discusses aspects of the U.S. federal gas mileage standard which increases the mileage requirements of cars and light trucks. He suggests that although the standard is a valiant effort to reduce emissions and lessen the U.S. dependence on foreign oil, some people object. He offers some tongue-in-cheek tips on how to get fewer miles out of a gallon of gas to those who want to drive gas-guzzling cars, including never getting a tune-up and idling when possible.
