    • The article discusses the origin of chocolate and the process used to make it edible. Archaeological evidence suggests that chocolate has been consumed for thousands of years and was the favorite drink of the Maya, the Aztecs, and other Mesoamerican cultures. Topics include how physician and naturalist Hans Sloane mixed milk with a bitter chocolate drink to create a more palpable beverage and the documentation of the positive health effects of of chocolate including it's antioxidant effects.
