  • The article discusses aspects of piracy and how debunking the myths surrounding pirates reveals the social order generated by hidden economic forces. The author notes that pirates have historically been labeled as traitorous thieves and torturers. He cites the book "The Invisible Hook," by economist Peter T. Leeson which shows the social cohesion of pirates based on their economic exchanges and discusses the origin of piratical lawlessness.
