The article discusses the analyses of the fossil remains of a miniature human species named Homo floresiensis, which scientists have nicknamed the hobbit. A brief overview of the discovery of the H. floresiensis speciman, known as LB1, while excavating the cave Liang Bua on Flores Island, Indonesia, is presented. Also presented is an overview of how additional findings forced paleoanthropologists to rethink human evolution and the bizarre morphology of H. floresiensis.
