An example is given of phosphorus recovery at the U.S. Durham Advance Wastewater Treatment Facility in Portland, Oregon. Topics include the amount of phosphorus excreted by humans annually, it use in the production of Ostara Crystal Green which is are slow release fertilizer pellets containing recovered phosphorus, and how the facilities recover nitrogen and phosphorus during sewage purification.
