Car-dispatch company Uber made its software last week. The firm is letting third party developers have access to the software that triggers the request for a car, allowing them to summon cars automatically. Until now, anyone who wanted a car could manually request one via the app, mobile Web site or text message. The idea has been a huge success, with the service now available in 56 countries--although it has made plenty of enemies along the way. It has also recently announced plans to hire 1 million female drivers by 2020.
