Este estudio estadístico de las exposiciones temporales del Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía (Madrid) realizadas durante el siglo XXI desvela una desigual representación de artistas hombres y mujeres. Examinando diversas variables y haciendo comparaciones de los datos antes y después de la entrada en vigor de la Ley de Igualdad española en 2007, los resultados apuntan a un insuficiente esfuerzo por aumentar la inclusión femenina en el museo. El balance indica que las exposiciones de arte más actual tienden a ser paritarias, entre las individuales hay un notable aumento de artistas mujeres de larga trayectoria, pero sin embargo el dominio masculino en las exposiciones colectivas es persistente y prácticamente inamovible en todo el arco de tiempo.

This statistical study of temporary exhibitions held in Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía (Madrid) during the 21st century shows an unequal representation of male and female artists. Examining diverse variables and comparing data from before and after the creation of the Gender Equality Law in 2007, the results reveal that the museum has not made sufficient efforts to include women artists. The overall findings indicate a trend towards equality among exhibitions of new art, a notable rise of women artists with a long career among solo shows, while on the other hand, however, male artists dominate group shows persistently throughout the period.
