  En los últimos años, el cultivo del almendro ha sufrido una verdadera revolución: la Almendricultura moderna ha nacido. En España, esta revolución ha llevado a una cuidosa elección de los patrones con una mayor adaptación a condiciones de regadío y sobre todo a la intensificación del cultivo. En la actualidad, el híbrido ‘INRA GF–677’ se sigue utilizando y siendo el portainjertos más empleado durante muchos años. Sin embargo, otros híbridos almendro × melocotonero de hoja roja de la serie GxN, sobre todo ‘Garnem’, están jugando ya un papel importante en el cultivo del almendro. Estos nuevos patrones de la serie GxN aportan su resistencia a nematodos agalladores y su adaptación a los suelos calcáreos predominantes en el Mediterráneo. Por otra parte, los nuevos híbridos de almendro y ciruelo de la serie Root–Pac®, sobre todo Root–Pac® 20, aportan un eficiente control del vigor y una mejor adaptación a suelos pesados, además de su resistencia a los nematodos agalladores. Con todo ello, se busca un cultivo más eficiente y adaptado que ha permitido la intensificación en mayor o menor medida del cultivo.

  The rootstocks choice in the modern almendriculture. In recent years, the almond cultivation has experienced a real revolution: the modern Almendriculture has born. In Spain, this revolution has led to a careful choice of rootstocks with greater adaptation to irrigated almond production and especially to the intensification of the orchard. At present, the hybrid ‘INRA GF–677’ is still used and being the most used rootstock for many years. However, other red leaf almond × peach hybrids of the GxN series, particularly ‘Garnem’, are already playing an important role in the almond cultivation. These new rootstocks of the GxN series provide their root–knot nematodes resistance and their adaptation to the calcareous soils that are predominant in the Mediterranean basin. On the other hand, the new almond and plum hybrids of the Root–Pac® series, especially Root–Pac® 20, provide efficient vigour control and better adaptation to heavy soils, as well as their resistance to root–knot nematodes. As a result, a more efficient and adapted crop is achieved, allowing the intensification of the orchard.
