The Large Hadron Collider (LHC), situated at CERN near Geneva, Switzerland, garnered fame for discovering the Riggs boson in 2012. That was the last uncharted feature of a landscape that's now pretty well explored: the landscape of the standard model, the current best theory of matter and its workings. Since Feb 2013, the LHC has been undergoing a comprehensive overhaul. Here, Chalmers investigates whether the rejuvenated Large Hadron Collider spy could even wilder particles after a two-year makeover.
