Importaciones y acceso al mercado español

    Las importaciones españolas han evolucionado desigualmente durante el crecimiento económico y las crisis recientes. Una posible razón es el aumento considerable de regulaciones concernientes a algunas actividades económicas. Este trabajo cuantifica la incidencia de las barreras técnicas al comercio (BTC) y medidas sanitarias y fitosanitarias (SFS) y utiliza la ecuación estructural de gravedad para analizar su impacto sobre el acceso al mercado. Las BTC frenan las importaciones agregadas; en algunas actividades restringen el acceso al mercado, a la vez que lo facilitan en otras, y mayoritariamente afectan a las importaciones a la Unión Europea.

    Spanish imports have evolved unevenly during the recent economic growth and crisis. A possible reason is the substantial increase of regulations concerning certain economic activities. This paper quantifies the incidence of Technical Barriers to Trade (TBTs) and of Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures (SPSs) and uses the structural gravity equation to analyse their impact on market access. TBTs slow down aggregate imports; in some activities they restrict market access while in others they facilitate it, and they mostly affect European Union imports.
