El artículo aborda las bases teóricas para la formación y desarrollo del liderazgo en la gestión educacional latinoamericana. Se parte de un análisis de las teorías y modelos clásicos, y se enfatiza en la evolución y desarrollo de la Educación en Latinoamérica. Desde esta perspectiva, se recurre a la Pedagogía autóctona y la teoría de la gestión educacional como principales fundamentos del liderazgo en la educación. Este trabajo, es fruto de la experiencia del autor en la dirección de proyectos de investigación, asesorías y capacitaciones desarrolladas con docentes y directivos en Cuba y Latinoamérica. Constituye un referente importante para el ulterior desarrollo de investigaciones en el campo y el enriquecimiento de esta teoría. De igual manera, es un punto de vista que se pone a consideración de investigadores, docentes, especialistas y profesionales de la educación, para su debate y discusión.

The present written report comprises the theoretical basis for the formation and development of the lidearship in the Latin American educational management. It departs from the analysis of the theoretical and classic model, as they unquestionably constitutes important cotributions for any sector and oraganization. However, the novelty of the report relies on determining its own scientific foundation. In this way, it makes emphasis on the evolution and development of Education in Latin America. From this outlook, the authors focus on the original Pedagogy and the educational management theory as chief foundations of the educational leadership. This work is the result of its authors´ experience on the management of research projects, advisory and the development of training courses with teachers and manegers in Cuba and Latin America. It stands for an important referent for the further development of researches in this field and the enrichment of this theory. Likewise, it is a point of view put into consideration of teaching researches, specialists, and educational professionals for its debate and discussion.
