  • The article discusses the efforts by computer software designers to make integrated chips smaller, faster, and cheaper. According the authors, making transistors on integrated-circuit chips even smaller may soon be impossible. Topics include an in-depth discussion regarding the need for the continued improvement of alternative materials and designs and how materials such as nanowires, graphene, and quantum particles could create a new generation of chips more powerful than those in existence.
