VCS-Diamante: cultivar de sorgo blanco para el estado de Sinaloa

    La nueva variedad de sorgo VCSDiamante fue desarrollado en el Campo Experimental Valle de Culiacán (CEVACU) del INIFAP y registradacon el número SOG-282-231117y título de obtentor número 1892,en el Catálogo Nacional de Variedades Vegetales (CNVV) del SINCS de México. Esta variedad se adapta a las áreas productoras de sorgo para el estado de Sinaloa. VCSDiamante es una variedad de ciclo vegetativo intermedio, de grano crema o ámbar,se recomienda para condiciones de riego y temporal. El rendimiento promedio de la variedad es de 3 310 kg ha-1de grano y 27 105 kg ha-1de forraje verde, superioren promedio 15.4 y 25.47% respectivamente, al rendimiento de híbridos comerciales, que se cultivan en la región bajo las mismas condiciones en temporal. VCS-Diamante tiene al igual que los híbridos comerciales aceptable calidad bromatológica en el forraje, con 6.21% de proteína y 78.66% de digestibilidad. Es tolerante a enfermedades que se presentan en la región, como son: ergot (Claviceps africana), antracnosis (Colletotrichum graminicola), tizón de la panoja (Fusarium moniliforme) y pudrición carbonosa del tallo (Macrophomina phaseolina), presenta tolerancia al pulgón amarillo del sorgo (Melanaphis sacchari Zehntner).VCS-Diamante presentaun tamaño de grano de 4.61, 4.35 y 2.8 mm, de largo, ancho y grosoryuna composición química de proteínas, lípidos, cenizas y carbohidratos de 14.95, 3.93, 2.04 y 79.08%, respectivamente

    The new VCS Diamante sorghum variety was developed in the Valley ofCuliacanExperimental Field (CEVACU) of INIFAP and registered with the number SOG-282-231117 and breeder’s title number 1892, in the National Catalog of Plant Varieties (CNVV) of the SINCSfrom Mexico. This variety is adapted to sorghum-producing areas for the state of Sinaloa. VCS Diamante is a variety of intermediate vegetative cycle, cream or amber, is recommended for irrigation and temporary conditions. The average yield of the variety is 3 310 kg ha-1of grain and 27 105 kg ha-1of green forage, superior on average 15.4 and 25.47% respectively, to the performance of commercial hybrids,which are grown in the region under the same conditions in temporary. VCS-Diamante has, like commercial hybrids, acceptable bromatological quality in forage, with 6.21% protein and 78.66% digestibility. It is tolerant to diseases that occur in the region, such as: ergot (Claviceps africana), anthracnose (Colletotrichum graminicola), blight of the panicle (Fusarium moniliforme) and carbonaceous rot of the stem (Macrophomina phaseolina), it hastolerance to the yellow aphid sorghum (Melanaphis sacchariZehntner). VCS-Diamante has a grain size of 4.61, 4.35 and 2.8 mm, length, width and thickness and a chemical composition of proteins, lipids, ashes and carbohydrates of 14.95, 3.93, 2.04 and 79.08%, respectively
