    De la Gramática de la Real Academia Española a la Gramática de Casos a la Teoría de Rección y Ligamiento, a la Gramática Semántica, el estudio tradicional de la gramática hace eco a la idea que el nombre en una oración, representado en la frase nominal sujeto, gobierna al verbo. Aunque autores como Fillmore y Dixon afirman que el verbo es la categoría gramatical central, el análisis termina siendo morfológico con cateogrías como Frase Nominal, Frase Verbal y Frase Preposicional.

    Gramática Viva argumenta que el verbo, no el sujeto es el centro de la oración, considerada la principal entidad lingüística, y como tal debería ser el centro del análisis lingüístico. La tesis central es que la categoría gramatical pertenece a la morfología: el verbo pertenece a la sintaxis, y la oración pertenece a la semántica. El presente artículo explica y ejemplifica el marco teórico de una gramática centrada en el verbo.

    From the Gramática de la Real Academia Española to Case for Case, to Government and Binding Theory, to Semantic Grammar, the traditional study of grammar and syntax echoes the idea that the noun (the subject noun phrase) in a sentence governs the verb. Even though authors like Fillmore and Dixon assert that the verb is the central grammatical category, the analysis ends up being morphological with categories such as Noun Phrase, Verb Phrase, and Prepositional Phrase.

    Live Grammar argues that the verb, not the subject, is the center of the sentence (the main linguistic entity), and as such, should be the center of the linguistic analysis. The central thesis is that the grammatical category pertains to morphology; the verb pertains to syntax; and the sentence pertains to semantics. In this article, a theoretical framework to Live Grammar, a grammar centered on the verb, is explained and exemplified.
