    Los sismos son fenómenos que han estado estrechamente ligados a la cultura chilena, ya que a través de los siglos han definido el de- sarrollo de este país, determinando su creci- miento económico y bienestar social. Se debe entender que en Chile los terremotos son cosa frecuente por la disposición geográfica del territorio y, a pesar de la constante ocurrencia de estos eventos naturales, los santiaguinos siempre han estado expuestos a sus consecuencias;

    por lo tanto, estos procesos han ejercido una influencia notable en la forma de diseñar, construir, habitar y vivir en esta ciudad.

    The earthquakes are phenomena that have been closely linked to the Chilean culture, since over the centuries they have defined the development of this country, determining its economic growth and social welfare. It is necessary to understand that in Chile the earthquakes are a frequent thing for the geographical disposition of the territory and, in spite of the constant occurrence of these natural events, the santiaguinos always have been exposed to his consequences;

    therefore, these processes have exercised a notable influence in the way of designing, of constructing, of living and living in the city.
