  • In the article the author discusses single-payer national health care and explains how it differs from U.S. President Barack Obama's proposed public option health plan. Single-payer health care would provide Medicare coverage to the entire U.S. population, and the government would collect money from workers to pay for medical services. Obama's public option combines the single-payer system with the private insurance industry. He opines that Obama's system maintains a high level of administrative costs.
